Andrew Hordyk

Andrew is a lead instructor for Arboriculture Canada in the specialized areas of Technical Tree Falling, Hazard & Danger Tree Falling, Tree Climbing, Work Positioning & Fall Protection, Tree Dynamics & Integrated Risk Assessment and Rigging. He has been the successful business owner and president of Arborwood Tree Service. Inc., a tree service focusing on safety, integrity and professionalism in the Greater Toronto Area for the past 7 years. Andrew has over 15 years of experience in the tree care industry.
Andrew brings a multitude of credentials and experiences to the training and education world. In addition to volunteering on the Fire Department in West Lincoln, he has been a volunteer as a judge and recently the head judge of the work climb at the International Tree Climbing Competition from 2001 to present. He is an on-going competitor of the ISA Ontario Tree Climbing Competition and was recently awarded the Spirit of the Competition Award in 2007. (which is a testament to his congenial and team oriented approach!!) Andrew is an ISA Certified Arborist. Other formal education involves a Landscape Gardener Apprenticeship and Marketing Major in the Business Admin. program at Sheridan College.
Andrew has honed his skills as an instructor through taking training programs such as:
- "How to be a better trainer" from Rockhurst University Continuing Education Center
- Graduate of the Trainer Intensive Program in Georgia, USA in 2007
- Instructor at Humber College in 2006
- Multiple courses with ArborMaster Training from 1999 - 2006
- All available courses with Arboriculture Canada in 2006 and 2007

Although Andrew's business and professional credentials show his leadership and great success as an instructor and industry leader in arboriculture, Andrew's greatest pride and joy comes from his beautiful family! Andrew and his wife Kerri have 3 young children, MacKenzie, Bailey and Brody. They live in the GTA and enjoy their summers together at a nearby summer vacation spot.
If you don't already know Andrew - watch for him in 2008 at a course near you! He will be teaching many of the courses in Ontario, as well as investing his learning energies at the Instructor Intensive Training Camp in Florida in February 2008. He instruction style is dynamic, confident and clear. Andrew is an inspiration to many in this industry. Thanks for being part of our team Andrew!
